Rules for the Backyard Ultra (translation of the English rules by Gary „Lazarus Lake“ Cantrell)
- Track
- Round trip or back-and-forth
- Must be 4 miles 880 feet long
- In the metric system, the distance is 6.7056 kilometers
- Launchbar
- Large enough for the entire starter field
- The start area size will not change during the entire race
- All participants must be in the start area at the start signal
- Starts
- Each round starts exactly one hour after the last
- A warning signal must sound 3, 2, and 1 minute before start
- All participants must start at the start signal (no later starts)
- to round off
- Except for the toilet passage, the distance may not be left by the participants until the end of the round
- No non-participants on the track (incl. retired runners)
- No personal Aid stations along the route (general Aid stations are allowed)
- Each round must be completed within an hour to be counted… including the last round
- No artificial aids (including trekking poles)
- Slow runners must allow overtaking
- Timing
- The timing of the rounds is optional
- Winners/Results
- The winner is the person who finishes a round last
- All other runners are rated as DNF
- The results of each runner shall be indicated as the distance travelled
- If no runner can complete another lap more than anyone else, there is no winner
- Limitation
- The race must have an open end. No limitation of the laps.
